![]() Abbot Warren, O.S.B. was born in Oak Park, Illinois on November 16, 1934 to Leon and Teresa Hass Heidgen. He was raised in Elmhurst, Illinois. He came to Colorado in 1952 and entered Holy Cross Benedictine Abbey on July 11, 1955. Completed his theological studies at the Abbey, he was ordained a priest on April 30, 1960 by Bishop Charles Buswell, in Sacred Heart Cathedral, Pueblo Colorado. Most of his priestly work has been in parishes, for a short time in Longmont, Colorado, then until 1979 as assistant and then pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus, Boulder, Colorado. For a short time before being pastor he was director of Camp Holy Cross. He was elected Abbot of Holy Cross Abbey on June 9, 1979. He served as Abbot for almost six years then resigned. Since February 1988 he has worked in the Diocese of Colorado Springs, for a short time at Divine Redeemer, and then as pastor of St. Rose of Lima, Buena Vista and St. Joseph, Fairplay, until 2002. After a sabbatical year, he was appointed parochial vicar at St. Joseph, Southgate on July 1, 2003. On August 2, 2004 he was appointed parochial administrator of St. Mary of the Rockies, Bailey. Abbot Warren enjoys his priestly ministry. He also enjoys skiing, hunting, fishing is an Avid Bronco fan, reads a lot, likes spectator sports, and keeps up with what is happening in the life of the church. He has a brother in the Chicago area and a sister in the Albuquerque, area.
